Frequently Asked Questions

O-Shot

The O-Shot is a simple, nonsurgical, injection-based treatment developed by Dr. Charles Runels MD in 2011, and has since been used by thousands of women around the world to treat sexual dysfunction. Dr. Runels is also the inventor of the P-Shot, which helps to treat erectile dysfunction in men. The “O” in the O-Shot stands for “orchid,” symbolizing the elixir of youth that the procedure is named after and can help rejuvenate the vaginal area to improve sexual function.

Patients have reported many benefits and positive results after receiving the O-Shot treatment. Some of the benefits of the O-Shot include improved sexual function, decreased urinary incontinence, and relief from vaginal dryness.

  • Increased sexual arousal
  • improved natural lubrication
  • More intense orgasms
  • Reduced pain during sex
  • Reduced urinary incontinence
  • More frequent orgasms

PRP is obtained by drawing blood from the patient and then spinning it in a specially designed, high RPM centrifuge to separate the platelets from the other blood cells. The PRP is injected into the clitoris and the upper vagina, but can also be injected into the G-spot in order to enhance sexual pleasure. This area is rich in nerve endings that are responsible for sexual arousal and orgasm. However, the specific injection site will be determined by the doctor based on the individual needs of each patient.

The O-Shot is a quick, minimally invasive treatment but the answer to this question depends on each individual’s pain tolerance. Prior to the injection, the area will be numbed with a local anesthetic, so most women report feeling only very mild, or minor discomfort during the procedure. Our experienced team at Atlanta Men’s Clinic will work with you to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible during the procedure.

The purpose of the shot is to increase blood flow and nerve sensation to the clitoris and vaginal area, which can lead to improved sexual function. While the shot is not specifically designed to help tighten the vagina, many women report that they feel tighter after having the procedure.

There are a number of factors that can affect how long it takes for the O-Shot to work including the age of the patient, the severity of the condition being treated, and the overall health of the individual. Most patients notice an improvement in sexual function within 2 to 3 weeks after the procedure, however, others may notice results within 4-6 weeks after the second injection. In some cases, it may take up to 3 months for full results to be apparent.

While results of the O-Shot vary from patient to patient, many women report improvements to their symptoms within a few days and benefits that last for several months after the procedure. In some cases, the effects of the O-Shot may be permanent.

The O-Shot is a quick, non-surgical procedure, with no major side effects or complications associated with it. The PRP is derived from the patient’s own blood, making it a safe and effective treatment option for sexual dysfunction in women. However, in rare cases some patients may experience minor discomfort including soreness, itching, and bruising at the injection site. These effects are temporary and typically resolve within a few days. Overall, the O-Shot is a safe and effective way to improve sexual function with minimal side effects.

Unfortunately, most commercial insurance plans do not cover the O-Shot, although it is possible if the treatment is medically necessary. The exact cost is determined by your individual diagnosis and can vary based on the number of treatments. Though most patients feel the O-Shot to be well worth the out of pocket expense, as it can dramatically improve sexual function and quality of life.
